Working with this innovator in education reform and advocacy since 2014 and reimagining career planning and life skills development for public school students has been both a privilege and an awesome challenge. By collaborating with leading supplemental educational non-profit organizations like Sponsors for Educational Opportunities (@seoscholarsnyc), The Opportunity Network (@theopportunitynetwork) and The Fresh Air Fund (@thefreshairfund), Silver Spoon Foundation has built a solid reputation for being best in class in engaging young professionals with the skillful integration of pop culture lifestyle and social emotional development of inner city youth.
When Silver Spoon Foundation (@silverspoonfund) sought out to create a new program that could measurably advance and prepare under privileged youth for competing at the post secondary level, they looked no further than Fortell Communications.
Taking into account the short attention spans of today’s youth, we knew that any successful program for high school aged and college level youth would require an immersion of sorts. The educational immersion would have to be concise, yield immediate results and be engaging. For the aforementioned task, Fortell Communications invited the leading professional network, LinkedIn (@linkedin) to partner with Silver Spoon Foundation to create an empowering program called LinkUP.
The LinkUP program was the first education focused program from Fortell Communications and its immediate success was transformative for the students and involved organizations alike. The 2-part program consist of a 1-hour student friendly immersion course in understanding LinkedIn facilitated by a LinkedIn representative and inclusive of support from staff of lifestyle brands dearly embraced and relevant to students. The second part invites students to receive what for many of them was the first ever professional headshot complete with styling and make-up support.
Proudly delivering over 10K student headshots to underserved youth with an accompanying education in real world networking in a period of 2 years is a feat that we are highly satisfied with and continues to be one of our most successful innovations to date.
